It should be noted that even though I'm naming this thing after something 4Chan's /co/ forum did awhile back, I've never actually read The Ride, and in fact am going into this mostly blind aside from reading a good chunk of Ian Flynn's current Sonic Run. The comic draws mostly from Sat/Am, mostly in terms of the cast, which consist (At first) of Sonic, Tails, Princess Sally Acorn, Rotor the Walrus, Bunnie Robot, Antoine the Cowardly Frenchman (Because of Course), and several other characters no one actually cares about, though it slowly bloats bigger and bigger as Sonic's Friends are introduced in the Games.and the writers make some original characters of their own. The other is The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, or as I like to call it Baby's First Acid Trip. One of them is Sat/Am, a cartoon fondly remembered for its characters and dark plot, even though it has aged about as well as Cheese that has been left out in the sun for about a week. However, there were other subjects to draw from, namely two cartoons.

Now, Archie Sonic honestly didn't draw to much from the games, which at the time all had the basic plot of: Sonic kicks Eggman's face in after he shoves a bunch of tiny animals into stupid looking robots, and at the time only one of Sonic's Stupid Friends had been Introd: Miles "Tails" Prower, the flying Two-Tailed Fox. I will only cover the first 150 Issues here, for several reasons, most prominently because after 150, Ian Flynn takes over writing, and the comic becomes incredible, and me reading Good Comics isn't any fun.for you sick fucks anyway. Ok, lets be fair here, both are for kids, but Sonic was built around giving kids the illusion that he was for adults, to make them feel more adult, and for awhile it succeeded, and Sonic was a mass-market hit.Īnd that is the subject here, one of Sonic's biggest mass-market adventures, Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog Comic Series, the Longest Running Video Game Comic Book ever. But once, in the begone days of yore, Sonic was the Fucking Bomb, an alternate, edgy badass to Mario's childish nature, basically, a fat Italian Plumber saving a Princess from a Turtle Dragon while eating a shit ton of mushrooms was for babies, a super fast pudgy blue hedgehog beating up robots and a fat guy was for grown-ass adults. Now a days, Sonic is synonymous with basement dwelling weirdos who obsess over his arms, his cast of stupid friends, and making totally original characters. Sonic the Hedgehog has had quite the up and down history, both as a Video Game Character and as an Icon in General.
